LIVING YOUR DREAM

If you have always dreamed of owning and operating your own special

business, and if your special business is a restaurant or a bed and

breakfast, an extraordinary opportunity awaits you! It is called

"Living Your Dream", a special program offered by the North Carolina Small Business Center Network (SBCN) that will provide real-life experiences for clients considering starting a small business. In addition, the program will generate income for existing NC businesses and help stimulate growth in North Carolina’s hospitality and tourism industry.

The program will expose SBC clients to actual work practices, principles, and problems in established businesses. The Martin Community College and the Asheville - Buncombe Technical Community College Small Business Centers will partner to provide the program training sites for a bed and breakfast and a restaurant business model, respectively. Clients who participate in this project will first be screened by the sponsoring SBC to ensure they are committed to pursuing a career in one of the model businesses. The businesses, in turn will provide program participants with holistic experiential learning as they shadow the innkeeper or restaurateur in performing the day-to-day tasks of operating those types of businesses.
